Ingredients
- 2 pie crusts (pastry for double crust pie)
- 6 cups granny smith apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Place a 10â?? deep dish pie pan on a baking tray with sides (in case of drips). Place bottom crust in pan. Combine apples, lemon juice, sugars, salt, cloves and cinnamon in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, bourbon and maple syrup. Stir over medium heat for 4 minutes. Add cranberry mixture and flour to apple mixture, combine. Place evenly in pie crust. Cut shapes from the top crust with a cookie cutter. Place top crust, arrange cut out pieces on top of crust. Press edges together, trim excess, and flute. If not using a cookie cutter, poke holes in the crust with a fork. Brush the crust with milk. Sprinkle with sugar. Place in preheated oven on center rack for approx 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and apples can be easily pierced with a fork.
