  • small to medium red and green apples
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup  white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins, dried cranberries or chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 2 tsp cinnamon

Temperature: 350 ° F

Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 9 inch Emile Henry pie dish. Dice apples. Do not peel. Set aside in a bowl. Mix in dried fruit. Mix butter and flour in a large bowl with a fork until clumps form. Add sugars and mix well. The dough will be lumpy. Put 1 1/2 cups of the dough mixture into the pie dish. Press onto bottom of dish and about 1/2 inch up the sides. Put apple and dried fruit mixture into pan. Sprinkle with nuts and cinnamon. Sprinkle rest of dough evenly over apples. Bake until browned and apples are tender- approximately 1 hour. Cool slightly before serving.
