Mom's Matzo Balls


  • 2 tbsp. chicken fat
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • ½ to ¾ cup matzo meal
  • ½ tsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper

Temperature: ° F


Beat eggs until frothy, add water and beat eggs again. Add salt, pepper, chicken fat, sugar, and enough matzo meal to form a soft consistency. Mix around gently with your hands. Refrigerate the matzo mixture for 1 hour and 30 minutes in the mixing bowl. Bring a large pot of water to a light boil. Form small balls and place them in the boiling water. Boil for 20 minutes.
