Arrived in great condition. I agree with the previous comment about the sticker residue. That should have been placed on the box and not the peel or at least the underside would have been better. The shape and workmanship is great. My only concern would be the handle is thin and the wood grain goes across it. That would be the weakest point if to snap off, however there is a 10-yr guarantee for workmanship and I haven't seen a single complaint of that happening, so it probably won't be an issue. Can't wait to use it with my Emile Henry Pizza Stone. I do have one question...Since it's unfinished wood, should we put any kind of oil on it for protection? Great products! Thank you.
This is a strong plank of wood despite being very thin (free from any pits or other natural defects). Its tapered front edge helps slip under the item to be moved.. It is sanded down to quite a smoothness for an untreated wood surface. The rounded edges (other than the front) make it comfortable to hold and maneuver. I was, however, quite unhappy that the price-tag was placed onto the _top_ surface, and its being a very cheap tag refused to tear off smoothly, leaving chemical gunk glue behind that is nearly impossible to fully remove! E-H needs to control staff better so that they do not marr a pristine surface intended for FOOD PREPARATION. After I scrubbed as best I could, washed, then dried it by leaning it against a wall on the kitchen counter, the area where the tag gunk had been refused to dry anywhere nearly as fast as the rest, proving its residue was not fully removed! This is a very serious problem as far as I am concerned, and so unnecessary if staff would simply apply it to the back! I will be CAREFULLY scrubbing with something more abrasive, but again, such a needless violation of what should have been a perfectly sanitary and unspoiled tool!
I very much enjoy using my new Emile Henry Pizza Peel. It is a wonderful baking accessory and so beautifully made. I use it when I make a traditional Alsatian Tarte Flambée or a pizza, both of which I bake on my unglazed Emile Henry Pizza Stone that I have had for a number of years. With the Pizza Peel, it is very easy to place the pizza on the stone in the oven as well as to remove it. To clean it, I wipe it off with a damp cloth and let it air dry. So thank you for your excellent products!
